3rd Grade Activists For Gay Marriage

A rally in support of marriage equality will take place this Saturday in Colorado, organized by a 3rd grader. 9-year-old Ethan McNamee got the idea to organize the event after hearing kids make antigay remarks on his school’s playground and learning that a same-sex couple in his neighborhood couldn’t get married.

Of course there are those who are saying that adults are using him but both he and his parents say it was Ethan's idea alone.

New Approach In The Fight Against AIDS

Most efforts at blocking AIDS have sought to stimulate the body's immune system to produce antibodies that fight the disease. This model has worked for diseases such as measles and smallpox. It hasn't done as well with HIV/AIDS; test vaccines have failed to produce a protective reaction.

So Dr. Philip R. Johnson of the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia decided to try something different. His research team is testing inserting a gene into the muscle that can cause it to produce protective antibodies against HIV.

The new method worked in mice and now has proved successful in monkeys, too, they reported Sunday in the online edition of the journal Nature Medicine.

"That doesn't mean an AIDS vaccine for people is in the wings"
, Johnson said. "Years of work may lie ahead before a product is ready for human use." Read article

Sounds like there is good news on the horizon.

NH Governor Will Approve Gay Marriage With Conditions

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch syas he will sign gay civil marriage into law if "… legislators insert language making it more explicit that churches, synagogues, and other religious institutions would get to decide whether they perform same-sex marriages. Says Lynch: "“If the Legislature passes this language, I will sign the same-sex marriage bill into law. If the Legislature doesn’t pass these provisions, I will veto it. We can and we must treat both same-sex couples and people of certain religious traditions with respect and dignity."

"I have heard, and I understand, the very real feelings of same-sex couples that a separate system is not an equal system. That a civil law that differentiates between their committed relationships and those of heterosexual couples undermines both their dignity and the legitimacy of their families."

Heard Enough Yet About Miss California?

Not yet? Well you maybe sicker than you thought. So, here it is. Carrie Prejean's disdain for "gay" marriage might be due to the possible effects "homosexuality" played in the divorce of her parents.

TMZ (wouldn't you know) has gotten a hold of the divorce papers filed by Carrie's parents. Seems her mom accused her father of being gay.

The papers also quote a court-appointed doctor who said, "The mother questioned [within Carrie's earshot] whether [her father] was a homosexual or had a homosexual roommate."

In court papers from 2000, the court-appointed counselor says Carrie's mom "also alleges the father told the girls their stepfather was gay, that all men with mustaches are gay."

And then there's the letter from Carrie's sister explaining the time the girls were visiting dad and saw dad's roommate in bed with another man.

You think Miss California might be a little bitter? A little resentful? If this indeed was true Miss Carrie, it wasn't homosexuality that broke up your family. No, it sounds more like dishonesty, mistrust, lies, and two very incompatible people.

Girl go see a therapist and stop pushing your resentment off on the gay community!

Another Victory In Maine For Same Sex Marriage!!

Saying he first opposed gay marriages, John Baldacci signed the bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state on Wednesday, stating "....I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law, and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage.”

Maine is the fifth state to legalize marriage equality and the third state this year, after Iowa and Vermont in April. It is also the second state after Vermont to legislatively allow marriage equality.
